EchoLife EG8247H5 is an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) that forms an integral part of Huawei’s all-optical access solution. It utilizes Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology to deliver ultra-broadband access to users, and is provided with 4 GE+2 POTS+1 USB+1 CATV+1 WiFi ports (including 4 GE ports, 2 POTS ports, 1 USB port, 1 CATV port, and 1 2.4G WiFi port).

- The GPON port is classified as Class B+. It ensures high performance and compatibility with GPON networks. Additionally, the port has a receiver sensitivity of -27 dBm, allowing it to detect signals even at low power levels. Moreover, it can handle overload optical power up to -8 dBm, ensuring robust performance and protection against excessive power levels. Furthermore, the port supports different wavelengths for upstream (1310nm) and downstream (1490nm) transmissions. It incorporates a Wavelength Blocking Filter (WBF) defined in the G.984.5 standard, optimizing signal quality and preventing interference.
- For flexibility in data transmission, the port allows efficient mapping between the GEM Port and TCONT. It also supports secure access to the GPON network with SN or password authentication, in line with the specifications defined in the G.984.3 standard. In addition, bi-directional Forward Error Correction (FEC) techniques enhance reliability and improve error correction capabilities. The port supports both SR-DBA and NSR-DBA mechanisms for efficient bandwidth allocation based on network demands. Moreover, it is compatible with Type B architecture, enabling single-homing and dual-homing scenarios for versatile network deployments.

- Regarding network traffic management, the card offers extensive features. It supports Ethernet VLAN tagging and tag removal for efficient traffic segmentation. VLAN transmission options include 1:1 VLAN, N:1 VLAN, and VLAN transparent transmission. QinQ VLAN is supported for transmitting VLAN-tagged packets over existing VLAN infrastructure. To manage network resources effectively, the card limits the number of learned MAC addresses, preventing flooding. It also supports MAC address learning for efficient frame forwarding. Ethernet ports automatically adapt to device speeds of 10 Mbit/s, 100 Mbit/s, or 1000 Mbit/s for compatibility.
